Joyce Miller: "MONTGOMERY
COUNTY": It's sort of like the Super bowl for Airedales. Once again members of the
Lone Star Airedale Terrier Club were well represented in the annual pilgrimage to Eastern
Pennsylvania this past October. This year we participated in or spectated four - no, make
that five - separate shows. There were two shows at Hatboro on Thursday and Friday, one at
Devon on Saturday morning along with Airedale Puppy Sweepstakes in the afternoon at the
Airedale headquarters motel, and finally the actual Montgomery County Kennel Club show in
Ambler, PA, on Sunday. On Wednesday evening a Breeder's Seminar was given, on Thursday
afternoon there were demonstrations of Airedales working agility and tracking, and the
traditional banquet and auction was held on Friday night.
--And the shopping - who could top the
shopping at the evening hospitality get-togethers? Everything from all the great clothing
available from the ATCA Hunting and Working Group to stationery, dolls, signs, statues,
photo albums and more - all featuring our wonderful, winsome Airedales.
Sunday's show will go down in our
collective memories as one of the wettest and muddiest times any of us has had in our
entire life? Dogs and handlers were sinking to their knees in the gooey gop. One smart
Airedale puppy spied an empty garden chair as she left the ring, jumped up on it, sat
down, and raised her paw to make it very clear to her owner that she wasn't going any
further! Handlers lost shoes, slipped and fell. But, through all the weather, the show
went on, and our Texas Airedales did very well.
The pictures on this page will give you a
taste of the fun we have every year when we gather in Pennsylvania to share our love of
Airedales with people from across the nation and around the world.
