BREEDERS' PLEDGE

1. As a breeder, I will breed only those dogs that meet or exceed the American Kennel Club Standard for the Breed.
   

2. I will use only American Kennel Club registered dogs for breeding purposes.
   

3. I will not sell any dog that does not meet the standard of the Breed except under the conditions of a spay-neuter agreement or American Kennel Club limited registration. I will note this requirement in writing either on the bill of sale or in a written agreement.
   

4. I will not sell dogs without true representation to the purchaser, nor use misleading or untruthful statements in selling or advertising.
   

5. I will maintain high standards in the care of my dogs. I will use every effort to avoid major faults and to produce sound, good-tempered dogs that will be typical of their breed throughout their lives.
   

6. I will not donate or sell dogs to commercial dog wholesalers or retailers, nor will I sell litter lots, nor will I allow any dog I have bred or caused to be bred to be placed at auction, raffle, chance or placed by any means other than direct sale to the person or family who intends to keep the dog for their own.
   

7. I will comply with all American Kennel Club rules and regulations.
   

8. I will not deliberately degrade any fancier, his breed, or his kennel.
   

9. I will help to educate the public in the standard and care of my breed and in all other areas where I am qualified.
   

10. I will supply each purchaser with the following: registration record (where applicable); three generation pedigree; health record; diet and care information. I will do this at the time of sale.
    

11. I will help the owner for the life of the dog in every reasonable way.
    

12. If the owner of any dog of my breeding is unable or unwilling to care for the dog at any point in his lifetime, I will take the dog back.
